Very Odd Weekend with friends, bloggers and a celeb!

Friday Night’s Alright!

On Friday night Me and Spencer’s ARC Daddy (Chris) headed out with friends. We left the kids and babies with Nanny Sue!

She’s such a brave lady taking them all on!

Now the group of friends we were out with us girls met through sure start 6 years ago. Our husbands hit it off too. I feel so lucky to have such good friends in our lives. As a group though we have never before been out altogether without the kids!

Our night out was attending the opening night of a new showbar in Lincoln. We stayed out until 4am! I’m not sure we have ever stayed out that long before (Ok maybe when I was in my early 20’s)

BlogOn Toys

On Saturday morning me & Chris had to catch a train to Manchester for the BlogOn Conference!

85B96796-337C-4F27-89C3-4C146268F843

I haven’t  been to a blogging conference for ages. This year I decided to head to BlogOn Toys in Manchester at the amazing venue of Hotel Football!

I decided to bring Chris along too! He has recently got into instagram and is my support on this weird blogging, vlogging journey. Well Some one has to carry the bags right?

So after a manic night / early morning we got off the train still feeling a little hyper from the night before!

Dressed As a Christmas Pudding

We met up with a few other bloggers at Wagamams. Me dressed as a Christmas pudding. I have to say I did get a few stares. well you would dressed in a Christmas dress in September!

I heard that there were bloggers still dancing as the DJ was packing up!

Conference Day

Sunday morning arrived and we headed to the conference. We grabbed our epic goody bags (no it’s not a windup take a suitcase trust me!) then grabbed a sausage sandwich for breakfast. Its then time to buy tombola tickets and raffle tickets before heading to the welcome chat! It was a very relaxed welcome talk was given, swearing and all By Laura of Tired Mummy of Two

Public Speaking

I chose to attend public speaking and online presenting with Sophie Mei Lan Hale  and Lee Furness. They really did throw everyone in at the deep end. I actually cried as they wanted us to do a live video there and then. I’m not sure if it was nerves or tiredness or the fact i was coming down with a cold but I didn’t have anything to say and suddenly couldn’t think of anything I was passionate about!

Go Pro Videos

Next up was creating awesome GoPro videos with Alex Wing!

This talk has throughly refuelled my passion for creating cinematic vlogs! I can’t wait for our next Spencer’s ARC road trip to get some footage.

Lunch Time

After the very delicious Christmas buffet lunch complete with sausages with bacon wrapped round, and mince pies we decided to head down to the brand den!

Meeting Brands

The brand den is where us bloggers can meet up with pr companies and direct with companies to exchange details take part in some crazy competitions and check out any new products brands are wanting to promote!

After we had made the rounds picking up lots of freebies we had missed the next session which was a Photography Hub, a chance to make some flatlay scenes and receive some advice from those that are far more advanced that me! We did manage to catch the end of the session before we nearly missed the cake break.

The cake sponsored by Party popteenies was delicious as always and went down really well with the prosecco provided by The Co-op. During the cake break we had a chat with one of the speakers of the day which was non other than Alex Winters former Cbeebies presenter. Such a lovely bloke!

The last talk of the day I decided to head to how to write a book! Now I have no idea what I would write however I think the idea of writing a book a great goal to achieve! I thought this talk may give me a little inspiration which it has so watch this space!

Raffle Time

The end of the day is the best event! The raffle. We won a couple of prizes but some walked out with armfuls the raffle consisted of all the prizes from the toy awards which us blogger had voted on throughout the day! it was an epic haul I have to say!

Meeting A Celeb

Both me and Spencer’s ARC daddy (who I think just tagged along for the prosecco and the selfie with another cbeebies celeb.) had a great day and are now looking forward to booking for the May conference too!

See you all in at the next one.

Chores & responsibilities for children 2-8 years?

Having made a tiny army of messy monsters I feel it only right that they help me tidy the mess that us six make around the house. But what chores can 2 year olds to 8 year olds do?

I have a few queries regarding chore for the kids.

  • Should we pay kids for doing little jobs around the house?
  • Should they be called chores?
  • What age can they start “chores”
  • What is appropriate for their age.

Having researched around the Internet there are many different ways in which families work out chores.

What works for one family may not work for another.

There are families that use lolly sticks to put chores on. Some write the jobs out on a tick sheet.

Some pay their kids with like a wage packet for each chore.

As I said before. Not everything will suit everyone.

So what’s best for me right now?

I have two sets of twins as you may know.

One set now nearly 3  years  old and one set are 8 years old.

The littlest twins are now understanding that we tidy things away. Though they don’t always (read very rarely) listen or tidy without lots of help.

Here’s my plan.

The little twins can learn about keeping our home tidy and clean. Their jobs (with help) will be…

  • Tidy away toys.
  • Put socks and vests away into baskets.
  • Practice dusting and wiping.

The littlest two love getting praise and stickers for dong well. So we have printed off a House points chart from Twinkl. They think its great getting a point (sticker)for doing a job.

The big twins have a list of things they should be responsible for.

Morning list

  • Open curtains
  • Make bed
  • Personal hygiene (teeth, face etc)
  • Eat all breakfast
  • Put pots in dishwasher
  • Quick bedroom tidy
  • Take down water bottles etc

Evening list

  • Put away toys
  • Get out clothes for the next day
  • Get books, water bottles etc for bed
  • Personal Hygiene routine

Weekly list

  • Strip bed.
  • Put away clothes.
  • Hoover own bedroom

Other Jobs to share!

  • Empty Dishwasher
  • Dust
  • Hoover downstairs
  • Load Washing machine

Routines are now in place and we are trying to keep our home tidy to help with our wellbeing while we are spending all of our time in it.

Im sure there are other jobs that we can share responsibility for but these are the main ones I can think of

What are your little ones responsible for?

Have I missed anything off the list?

September Word of the month.

Ahhhh September, the smell of new books, freshly sharpened pencils, new school shoes, and back to the chaos of the school run!

September brings new possibilities, a chance to start over or get back to working on your goals.

That’s why Septembers word of the month is more a sentence that a word.

Back To It!

This is my theme this month.

  • Back to school. The big twins are starting year two this school year. They will be in separate classrooms for the first time. Hopefully this means they will appreciate the time at home together a little more? The littlest twins are also heading to nursery one morning a week so that I can focus on my other goals below.
  • Back to working hard on the blog and social media. I have fell out of a routine for working lately. It’s hard to find a balance when it’s the school holidays. So hoping to get back on it.
  • Getting back into a routine. As above I so need to get back into a routine. Both for working and for keeping the home in check.
  • Back to the healthy way to live. I really need to work on my getting fit for 40 goal, summer has seen many ice creams eaten, many coffee & cakes had, a lot of meaty BBQs and not enough exercise. I’m now feeling the effects of this. I’m so unfit.
  • Back to the mission of decluttering, minimising our stuff. This is my biggest goal, I really need to minimise our lives and our stuff. It’s getting out of control and I think minimising will help all of our wellbeing’s!!

So whether your goals are to get back on it or something else I hope you have an amazing September.

Let me know what you have planned this month. I love our little community here and it nice when we can support each other with our goals.

And Just like that They turned One – An emotional Letter To My Last Babies

As I write this my last two babies are taking their afternoon nap,  something that I know along with sleepy snuggles and cuddles in bed,  will too soon be outgrown!

C88A3AA8-B607-414E-8E5F-5B20C2FE2CE2

August 2107 – Day One

I am so emotional about my last two babies becoming toddlers.

When I found out that we were having twins for the second time I was so distraught. I knew how much hard work the first two were. Now my babies have grown Oh boy I wasn’t wrong it’s so much hard work but I’m so in love with them. Im so sad that during their newborn phase I was so poorly and could barely look after them.

September 2107 – Month One

These two little surprises were definitely our last ones when we found out there were going to be two again. although it does make me sad that I wont have a newborn in my arms again. (until you know the next generation come along!) The decision of having more was taken away from me because of the emergency  hysterectomy. It feels a little bit more final than actually just saying your done!

The past year has been so long but has gone so fast.

October 2017 Month Two

We have been on many adventures not all good adventures either!

There are times throughout the last year that I’ve wanted to throw in the towel of being mum and head to Fiji. I have struggled so much with being outnumbered.

November 2017 – Month Three

I’ve been up and down health wise, we’ve had jealously from the big two and faced lots of tantrums and stroppy behaviour.

But were all learning to be a big family of 6! I know that’s quite small for some but I’m an only child so that huge to me!

December 2017 – Month Four

A letter to you my last babies

A year ago I was put to sleep not knowing if I would ever meet you.  I was so scared that I was going to leave your brother and sister without a mum. yet I didn’t stop to think about you two! I feel so guilty that I was so selfish thinking I didn’t care if you two lived I just had to come out of the other side for my other babies.

January 2018 Month Five

But you know when I got through the other side I was so in love with you both.

So happy to be alive and so ready to cuddle you both!

I wanted to feed you myself but didn’t realise how poorly I was going to become!

I want to say how sorry I am that not only was I too poorly to breast feed you but on most occasions I was too poorly to even hold you for a bottle. When I did find the strength I threw up all over you Mason as well as the bed, your daddy’s shoes & trousers and the nurse!

February 2018 Month Six

When I was eventually fixed and we were allowed to come home there wasn’t much time for us to bond alone as I couldn’t lift you for ages so there was always someone here.

I can’t believe that was a year ago! and now look at us!

I am so much more confident being your parent than I was with your brother and sister!

Confident in things like what you need, how your developing, changes in routine etc.

What I’m still not good at is not getting stressed at everyone as everyone needs me all once! Im not good at being one step ahead of you both! You are always ready for your bottle before I have it made.

March 2018 Month Seven

I’m not good at dealing with your screaming Mason I wish you could tell me what you want as I fear I will be deaf before you can talk. You squeal is so high-pitched and loud!

I feel sometimes that maybe I don’t have enough time for all of you!

It’s a good job we have nanny sue around to help us and give mummy a break from time to time!

April 2018 Month Eight

I just want you to know even though I am shouty and often upset you have made me such a better mummy! Its bloody hard work being outnumbered by an army you made yourself.

I want you to know that I’m going to try over the next year to make our home such an amazing place.

It will get better I know it will!

May 2018 Month Nine

I know there will be moments that will be testing but we will get through them together!

I’m so proud of you both!

Mason you curly hair and cheeky smile is so warming! You are like no-one we know grandma thinks you have a bit of an Italian side to you. Your amazing tanned skin.

Jessica you are the cutest little girl. Just looking at you brings a smile to my face. – You are so much like you big sister was!

June 2018 Month Ten

Just recently you seemed to have noticed each other and started playing together.

Not like Jake & Melody who used to cuddle one another!

July 2018 Month Eleven

You both seem to have your own independence. which I’m hoping as you grow is a good thing!

Thank-you both for coming into our life! Making our family complete!

Happy 1st Birthday!

August 2018 Month Twelve

Here is to another year of adventures!

A morning exploring Clumber Park National Trust With A Little Drop In The Ocean #Gifted

Yesterday myself and the littlest twins headed out to Clumber Park National Trust for the morning!

We left just after I had dropped the big two at holiday club.

Getting there early meant the car parks were fairly empty and there wasn’t many people around.

The babies were able to crawl around for a while.

We played ball and they played with rocks

They had an amazing time exploring the old caravan.

They learnt about old-fashioned games such as skittles – Though I’m not sure they really got the hang of it!

Next We headed to the play park. Jessica loved the swing Mason was more happy playing hidey boo on the play house!

All that playing and exploring must have worked up an appetite so they had a little snack.

We ended our morning with a visit to the cafe for a cuppa and a snack.

B5DF78B5-D1AF-484A-8FB6-1E3EA8C35AB2.JPG

We had a fab morning at Clumber. I think when the big kids return to school it could become a bit of a routine every so often.

It such a lovely place to spend a couple of hours or even the day!

At the end of the day our feet were mucky, hair messy and eyes sparkling

So that’s how you know we all had a good day!

The twins are wearing their new outfits from A little Drop In The Ocean

We as a family are ambassadors for this fabulous little company!

Their clothing really stands up to the daily tests from my little adventurers.
