February Plans.

There’s so many plans being made at Spencer’s ARC this month. So many trips to be made and things to be done.

It was a little to much for my little square on instagram so I thought I’d let you know over here instead.

So what’s happening in February?

  • Well first of all as per my blog this morning we have a lot of recovering to do what with my op, nanny’s Sue’s flu & the babies chicken pox.
  • It’s my Nephews birthday this month. And in our friendship group one of the girls turns 7 and she’s having a bowling party so we have at least one party and one play date.
  • It’s shrove Tuesday (pancake day) this month so no doubt I’ll be cooking a million pancakes with at least 4 different toppings. If I’m feeling up to it we might have a bit of a pancake party.
  • Me & Spencer’s ARC Daddy are off on a date night to see Jason Manford at Sheffield City Hall. The tickets Came this week and to be honest I’d completely forgotten about it until I opened them.
  • We have half term – where we plan on a trip to see the Tim Peak exhibition at the National Railway Museum in York. You can actually take a look inside Tim Peaks capsule., learn to become an astronaut, and code the launch of a rocket.
  • We really need a trip to the seaside this month. I love the sea, and I’ve really missed it. I don’t think we’ve even seen the seaside since August last year.
  • I think Spencer’s ARC Daddy has another trip away this month too so we may have another solo parenting week coming up too.

That’s pretty much it apart from more planning for our new adventures and for me working on my blog a little more.

What plans do you have for February?

What do you plan to do in the Half term holidays?

Word Of The Month – February

I told you last month that instead of giving myself new year goal or resolutions each month I would set a word Of the moth to live by. I’m taking each month at a time.

At the end of January I had my gallstone op, it’s going to take some time to get back to normal again.

It’s like almost getting to the end of the snakes and ladders board and then coming across a snake.

My word for this month is Recover

I didn’t really expect my op to come along so soon however I’m glad its now over and done with.

Nanny sue is still trying to recover from the flu.

Also the babies have now got the big twins chicken pox. So we all just need to take a rest and recover.

Throughout February We will be concentration on getting better. Recovering from my op. Recovering from chicken pox.

  • Little and Often – I need to get moving but I also need to rest so I will concentrate on trying to hit my 10,000 steps a day.
  • I need to rest when I can. This past month has really took it out of me.
  • I can’t swim until next month so I’ll need to find another way to relax.
  • I can’t lift for at least 2 weeks so I need to accept help from family & friends. I can’t even lift my babies.

By the end of the month I’ll be 4 weeks post op and well on the way to feeling like a new woman (according to others that have had their gallbladder removed)

Then we can put the last year well and truly behind us.

Saturday Night Dinner – Rustlers Burger Hack 5 Ways

As a busy mum of 4.5 and wife to a busy geek I’m always looking for ways to make delicious quick & easy meals for the family.

In the Spencer’s house it’s always time to feed someone.

I was asked by Britmums to see what meals we could come up with using the Rustlers Southern Fried Chicken Burger Twin Pack.

I headed to Tesco and piled my trolley with the Rustlers Southern Fried Chicken Burgers and lots of things to go with them in order to feed all of us.

I have gone one better. Well actually 4 better as I’ve managed to create a meal fit for everyone in our family (well those with teeth)

  1. For Spencer’s ARC daddy. We have the Quarter Pounder Big One. I teamed the Rustlers Southern Fried Chicken Burger with the Rustlers Flamed Grilled Quarter Pounder. Adding crispy iceberg lettuce, and sliced plum tomatoes. I used the cheese sauce that comes with the quarter pounder burger Served with curly fries. This really is the daddy of burgers.
  2. For me who is still trying to eat healthy and low-fat I made Chicken Strip Salad. I heated the chicken burger without the bun in the microwave and cut it into stripes. Which I placed on a bed of spinach with plum tomatoes and cucumber. Served with sweet potato fries and low-fat sour cream dip and low-fat coleslaw.
  3. Now for the kids. First Jake who loves a CBO from one of the fast food restaurants. So I made Spencer’s CBO. I fried some red onion and bacon and added this to the chicken burger along with a slice of pre sliced cheese. To serve I added the mustard mayo that comes with the Chicken Burger. Serving with a stack of steak chips and onion rings.
  4. For Melody I made Hunters Chicken. Using Chicken burger, grilled bacon topped with BBQ sauce and sliced melted cheese. Serving with corn on the cob, curly fries and the mustard mayo on the side to dip.
  5. Now for the Teen. Cam who loves his breakfasts, often isn’t awake before lunch time. So for him I made Breakfast Chicken Burger. Adding bacon, fried egg and mushrooms and topping with Brown sauce. Serving with grilled tomatoes and spring onions. (Not that he will eat any veg. You can but try, and if it looks good they are more likely to eat it) I also served this with Orange Juice for even more of a breakfast style dinner.

5 meals all gone for at least 3 fussy eaters.

These burgers are so easy to make they just take 90 seconds in the microwave. And at £2.50 in Tescos at the moment they are a totally affordable way to make meals times that bit easier in a busy household.

Why not head out now and try the Rustlers Burger Hacking Challenge

10 things I love…… about being a mum!

Good Morning

(Or afternoon or evening depending on when your reading)

I thought I would start a brand new series here on the blog.

10 Things I love……

This edition after trying to find positives in an otherwise shitty day I looked at all the things I loved about being a Mum to the children who had in one way or another contributed to my shitty day.

So here is “10 things I Love……

About being a Mum

I have to start by saying, that when I was younger despite loving my boy girl twin dolls I said I never wanted children of my own.

It was only when I found the love of my life did I decide I wanted to be a proper family. Thant included having children.

I still some days wonder what it would be like if we hadn’t had kids. however, since the second set of twins have arrived I know I am a Mum. I feel they were given to us for a reason.

  1. Smelling my babies head while I’m feeding.
  2. Playing with styles with my little girls hair.
  3. Rare hugs from my big boy.
  4. My big girl’s hugs when I feel sad.
  5. Weekend Morning snuggles.
  6. My children holding my hand while we walk.
  7. Dance interludes.
  8. Hearing them play together.
  9. Watching them sleep
  10. Helping them grow.

I could go on and on.

What are your favorite things about being a Mum??

What 10 things I love…… would you like to see next??

10 thing I love……

on Netflix?

About the seaside?

About Lanzarote?

Being a member of the WI? (Woman’s Institute)

Or any others you can think of??

I’ll be scheduling this series in once a week each Thursday Morning.

Relieving Anxiety – Routine Operation

As I’m sure most of you are aware In September 2017 I was diagnosed with gallstones. After 3 debilitating attack’s ending up with 3 visits to A&E my op to have my gallbladder removed is finally here.

img_4596.jpg

Well it’s today in fact. (Monday 29th January)

Up until last week it was at the back of my mind that I needed this operation however now I’ve had all my bloods checked and some bank blood taken I’m petrified.

My anxiety is on fire and I needed to calm down.

So I’ve been trying a few things to help bring my anxiety down.

  • Swimming. I have been swimming again after my pregnancy & complications since Early January.
  • Meditation. A few nights I have listened to a pre op meditation on YouTube. Here are a couple of them.
  • Focusing on future plans, planning treats for when I’m healed. Like a hair appointment & a holiday.
  • Spending time with the people I love.
  • Restricting my diet as much as possible so that my gallbladder isn’t inflamed when they go in. Less possibility of it being hard to get out.
  • Remembering what my cesarían hysterectomy anaesthetist said which was to breath. Take deep breaths.

Just breath.

Wish me luck.
